Top Club awards announced for 2020
2020 has been a difficult year like never before for everyone around the globe which resulted in no footy being played this season. Despite no footy there is always an enormous amount of the work going on behind the scenes at our Club meaning we had two deserving candidates for our Bob Segrave Outstanding Service Award and our John Dumaresq Best Clubperson Award. It is with great pleasure that the La Trobe University Football Club announces our 2020 John Dumaresq Best Clubperson recipient as Simon Hast and our 2020 Bob Segrave Outstanding Service Award recipient as Esta Williams.
The Bob Segrave Outstanding Service Award is our Club’s most prestigious award and is awarded to a person who has provided the Club with outstanding service, on or off the field, over a significant period. Esta has been a vital part of our Club as a trainer since 2017, including head trainer since 2019. Esta has regularly preformed her job at a high level, while going above and beyond her duties with exceptional care, commitment, and compassion. Esta demonstrated exceptional organisational skills by implementing an efficient process to ensure the trainers objectives were clear and a sustainable aspect of the Club. Esta never hesitated to go above and beyond which meant she often found herself carrying injured players from the field, going in an ambulance with players, waiting for players in the hospital to ensure they were okay and even pulling on the boots for our women in 2019 when they were short and desperate for numbers. As with her application to being a trainer she showed the same level of commitment to playing and polled a maximum of nine votes in the Club best and fairest that game.
