Trober 2022 Mid-Season Wrap
Read about how our teams have been travelling in 2022
The La Trobe men’s senior side are excited to welcome back key staff and players for the 2021 season.
Andrew Sutherland has re-committed as senior men’s coach. He returned to coach the team for the 2020 season before it was cancelled due to COVID-19. Andrew has a proud history with the club as a player and coach, coaching his team to a senior premiership in 1999.
The senior men will also welcome the addition of two new assistant coaches in Jaryd Coghill and Josh Rogerson. Both men are experienced members of the Club and are excited to take on their new roles.
Also joining the coaches in committing to the club are many returning players. Senior captain and 2019 best and fairest winner Andy Castles and vice-captain Lachlan Miller headline a core group of leaders returning to the Club for the 2021 season. Sam Benetti-Baker, Harry Thackery, Tate Spiteri, Josh Rogerson and Mark O’Brien will also be returning in the red and black next year.
The club is also excited to announce the return of 2018 reserves captain and best & fairest winner Darcy Stephenson and former senior captain Grant Dowler for the 2021 season.
The men’s football sides will be looking a bit different to previous seasons in 2021. The Trobers will still be fielding a seniors and a reserves team, but instead of an U19’s side the club has decided to field a thirds team. This is to avoid age restrictions difficulties and fast track young players into our senior and reserve teams. The search for both a reserves and a thirds coach is currently underway.
For the month of November, the boys will be taking part in the club’s Movember team where they will either grow a mo or run 60 or more kilometres for men’s mental health. We encourage all Trober members, former players and supporters to contribute or take part in the team for this great cause via the link below:
