Congratulations to Grant Dowler who was awarded Life Membership yesterday at our Past Players Day. Grant has been a proud member of our club for the past 9 years and has made a significant impact to the club over this time. Better known at the club as Huss, he has been a proud servant of our club being an example for all members to follow.
Huss joined the club in 2010 and quickly made the club his home. From an early stage he was offering assistance on a weekend and quickly moved to a committee position in 2013. Anyone who knows Huss, knows that he has a constant hands on approach which gained him the status as the clubs ‘Mr. Fix-It’. His reliability is unmatched, which can be hard to find at a young club, and he has ensured the club continuously moved forward. Huss has been instrumental in the connectivity between the women and men and without him we would not be the united club we now are.
Huss introduced the La Trobe Gala Ball, helped facilitated the Koorie Academy of Excellence Program, Captained the Senior Men from 2013 to 2015, played over 130 games for the club, named in the Team of the Decade, in 2013 he was awarded the John Dumaresq Best Clubperson and 2016 awarded the Bob Segrave Trophy.
Huss has for a long time been a fundamental member of the football club and we will never be able to truly articulate the work he has done for the past 9 years. As he plans to travel overseas next year, the club will greatly miss him. Congratulations to Grant Dowler, our 62nd Life Member at La Trobe University Football Club.
